In a world full of distractions and societal expectations or misconceptions about what masculinity really is, a lot of men struggle to find their true purpose. But men need a sense of purpose to feel useful, and usefulness is where we gain our perceived value in the world. No one likes, wants, or needs a useless man. We all have some purpose. It’s just harder to find these days when everything is so easily accessible.

A rudderless man is a dangerous creature. When we have no purpose we generally go one of three ways: 1) We just lay back and accept it, which is miserable for us and causes problems; 2) We get really angry, which is dangerous for everyone around us as well as for us; or 3) We purposely seek out a purpose and thrive, which is great for us and those around us. Most men these days fall into category one, choosing just to not even try. Some fall into category two which where all the negative stereotypes about us come from. But those of us who choose option three thrive, and so do those around us.

Finding your purpose as a man really is something that can have a profound impact on every aspect of your life and goes beyond societal expectations and conventional definitions of success. It’s about understanding who you truly are, what you value, and what legacy you want to leave behind.

Purpose acts as a compass, helping to navigate life’s challenges and decisions, and imbuing everyday life with a sense of meaning and direction and is something you need to find.

Without one we can easily fall into depression, develop anxiety, and our overall health suffers. Motivation to make any movement in life comes to a standstill and life generally just sucks.

We can generally find purpose in things like completing various tasks and projects, caring for others, and life accomplishments. Usually, it will fall somewhere in those arenas.
